Do the paws come out dry?

No. Drying is step three. The cup takes the mud off, a towel takes the water. Anyone who tells you a paw cleaner leaves paws dry is overselling it.

Won't it make a wet mess?

There'll be a little water to wipe up. That beats mud through the whole house. Stand it on a doormat and it's minimal.

Does one dip do all four paws?

On normal mud, yes. On really filthy days the water goes cloudy — change it after two paws.

My dog hates having their paws touched.

Three days, not three minutes. Day one, let them sniff it. Day two, one dry run — paw in, no water, treat straight after. Day three, warm water. Never cold; that's where it usually goes wrong. Most dogs are relaxed about it inside a week.

Which size should I get?

Small — Dachshund, Corgi, Jack Russell, French Bulldog, Cocker Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer, smaller crossbreeds.

Large — Labrador, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Springer, Bernese, Rottweiler, larger crossbreeds.

When in doubt, size down. The cup has to sit close around the paw for the bristles to reach. Too wide and the paw swims — it never gets properly clean.

My dog has short legs. Will it tip over?

Not if you set it on the floor rather than holding it up. Lower the paw in and twist the cup, not the paw.

How do I clean it?

Rinse and air dry. Dishwasher safe. The soft insert lifts out.

Does it work in winter?

That's when it earns its place. Warm water, not hot. Rinses away grit and road salt at the door.

Does it replace a bath?

No. It's for paws. But it means you're not showering an entire dog because four feet are muddy.

Blue or pink — is there any difference?

None at all. Same cup, same bristles, same job. Pick whichever one you'll be happy leaving by the front door, because that's where it needs to live.
